Random Acts of Kindness
Community change does not just rely on increasing knowledge and raising awareness, but also on action. To help promote change in the community Centacare will be launching the Random Acts of Kindness campaign later in the year. Research has shown that one of the ways in which family violence is reinforced is through the weakening of helping (prosocial) behaviours. To directly address this, individuals need to be supported to develop healthy respectful relationships, increase their helping behaviour and feel connected to the community. The Random Acts of Kindness campaign will be a pay it forward community initiative, where people can pass on an act of kindness to others. The campaign will encourage acts of kindness that involve people stepping outside of rigid gender roles and boost respectful relationships!
Keep an eye on the website and Centacare’s Facebook for more details in the coming months.
