Family Relationship Centre

Family Relationship Centre Geraldton

The Family Relationship Centre can provide information about family relationships at all stages – forming new relationships, overcoming relationship difficulties, or dealing with separation.

If you are going through separation, our staff will talk with you to help you focus on your children’s needs and help you decide what to do next.

The Family Relationship Centre is also a referral pathway to other services and supports that may be needed to effectively manage relationships or separations.

WHAT THIS SERVICE PROVIDES

The Family Relationship Centre is a source of information and confidential assistance for families at all stages in their lives. The Family Relationship Centre has a focus on providing family dispute resolution, and property dispute resolution (mediation), to enable separating families to achieve workable parenting and property arrangements outside the Court system.

Whether you are going through separation, starting a relationship, want to make your relationship stronger, or having relationship difficulties, the Family Relationship Centre can help. We believe all people should be safe in their relationships so where Family Violence has occurred, we will support you to link in to appropriate services.

Where families separate, the Family Relationship Centre can provide information, resources, group workshops, referrals and dispute resolution to help people reach agreement on parenting and property arrangements without going to court.

The Family Relationship Centre can also support families to strengthen relationships or deal with relationship difficulties through provision of information and referrals to appropriate services in your area.

WHO THIS IS TYPICALLY FOR

All families, whether you are starting a relationship, wanting to make your relationship stronger, having difficulties or are separated.

WHAT THIS SERVICE ENTAILS

For general information we encourage you to make contact with our friendly team by calling 08 9921 2611, or visiting our office at 116 Durlacher ST Geraldton. You do not need an appointment to come and speak with us for general advice and information.

If you are undertaking mediation services, after registering you will be booked into one of our Family Dispute Resolution Information Workshops or be provided with an online link to complete our Property Dispute Information Session online. Once the workshop or online information session is completed, you will receive a triage phone call from one of our Client Liaison Officers to check on your safety and well-being while on our wait-list. When you file has come off our wait-list and has been allocated to a practitioner, you will be provided with an appointment time for a one-on-one session with a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner / Family Advisor.

During your one-on-one appointment, you will have the opportunity to explain your family matter so that together we can consider options for pathways which might best suit your family. Appropriate pathways may or may not include family dispute resolution.

Legal advice through separation is often important and we can help link you in to this.
