For employees of participating organisations who are affected by work or personal problems.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential and professional counselling service for employees. It enables employees and their immediate family to resolve work and personal issues that may affect their wellbeing and productivity.

WHO THIS IS TYPICALLY FOR

Anyone working for an organisation participating in the Employee Assistance Programme.

WHAT THIS SERVICE ENTAILS

Counselling for any problems work related or personal. Issues may include, alcohol and drug use, critical incident stress, emotional abuse, family, gambling, grief and loss, marital conflict, physical abuse, relationships, separation/divorce, stress, the workplace, workplace trauma and depression.

No information is divulged to your employer, other than statistical reports stating, for example how many staff have taken advantage of the EAP in any quarter.

You can attend counselling during work hours. In this case you should give your Supervisor as much prior notice as possible that you will be away from the workplace to attend EAP counselling.
