Current Volunteer Opportunities List
Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:
Salvation Army – Thrift Shop Assistant: Responsible and energetic Volunteers are needed in this busy Thrift Shop located on Anzac Terrace Geraldton. Volunteers can assist with ragging, clothes sorting, general cleaning, customer service, stock control and merchandise preparation for sale. This is a great team atmosphere to work with in a central part of town. Volunteering with the Salvos is a rewarding experience, which allows you to give something back to the community.
Community Nursery – Nursery Assistant Volunteer: A variety of jobs are available to volunteers including helping to wash plant pots, planting seeds, picking out and potting up seedlings as well as some weeding. Volunteers will gain knowledge in germinating and growing Australian native plants as well as nursery management and hygiene practices. During planting season, volunteers can also become involved in planting at a variety of bushland regeneration locations within the City of Greater Geraldton.
Volunteers needed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8.00am-12.00pm all year round!
Midwest Ports Authority – Volunteer Tour Guides: Midwest Ports Authority (MWPA) are opening their gates for all to see! The Port of Geraldton has stood as the gateway to trade and tourism in regional Western Australia and the Midwest region for over a century. Midwest Ports Authority (MWPA) are seeking Volunteer Tour Guides to assist in hosting monthly tours through the Port of Geraldton. A great way to see behind the scenes of the port! The tour program will be launched in 2022 and be available to book through the Geraldton Visitor Centre. We look forward to hearing from you!
Foodbank – Front Desk/Scales Volunteer: Being a friendly face on the front desk will really make a difference to others at Food Bank Geraldton! As the front desk Volunteer, you will be greeting customers on arrival, operating the eftpos machine and money handling as well as some administrative tasks. When working on the scales/weigh out station, you will need to determine weights and prices relating to different stock, loading and unloading customer trolleys when on the scales. Volunteer will need to be available on Wednesday 7.30am -2pm or Thursday / Fridays 7.30am- 1.00pm.
If see yourself as reliable and relaxed person under pressure, then this is the role for you! Be part of a great team of Volunteers and staff, who go out of their way to support those in our community!
WACHS – Meals on Wheels Volunteer: This role sees Volunteers deliver hot and cold meals directly to the homes of isolated and aged community members. This role requires the use of your own vehicle and it may also be something you’d like to do with a friend or family member. Deliveries are done by Volunteers each weekday from 11am for approx. 1- 1 ½ hrs. Collection of eskies and run sheets from the Geraldton Health Campus and then taken to your client’s home.
A few minutes of your time to each client will be greatly appreciated and it may be the only contact that person has all day! You can go on the roster each week, fortnight, or month – whatever time you can offer is very welcome!
