Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:
Foodbank Geraldton – Go Gero Van Volunteer: The Van goes to various locations around town to provide a shopping opportunity to those who are unable to get to the premises. The elderly, disabled & those with families but without cars all fall into this category. The van carries a range of stock that mirrors what’s on our shop shelves – dry goods, fruit & veg & meat. Foodbank are currently looking for Volunteers to operate the Go Gero Van, Mon- Fri between 7.30am – 12pm with another person. The suitable volunteer will need to have a current Drivers Licence and be able to engage with the public in a friendly manner. If this sounds interesting to you express an interest today!!
Centacare Family Services – Outreach Volunteer: Housing First Support Services (HFSS) support people who are sleeping rough in Geraldton. We are seeking dynamic Volunteers to work alongside HFSS to provide outreach around the Geraldton CBD area. We are seeking a broad range of Volunteers to help make our service a success and reach our most vulnerable community members. If you have an hour or two to spare throughout the week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7am – 10am) and would like to be involved in our new service please apply to express your interest and discuss further. Full induction, support and supervision throughout your volunteering period will be provided. Volunteer must be 18+.
Desert Blue Connect – Clothing Donations Volunteer: Chrysalis House Women’s Refuge Geraldton put a call out for winter clothing donations and with the amazing response from the Community these donations now need to be sorted! The Donations Volunteer will be responsible for collecting, sorting, and re-donating the items that are donated to the Refuge by members of the public and/or organisations. As a Donations Volunteer you will be directly helping women who are escaping family and domestic violence get back on their feet!
SHINE Inspire Achieve Belong INC – Volunteer Tutor: SHINE are seeking tutors for their SHINE students who have identified a need for extra educational support. The students are in Year 6 to Year 10 and we would like to link tutors to the students most in need. Retired teachers or Uni students studying teaching would be perfect for this position. Have a positive impact on the life of a SHINE student today!
WA Country Health Service – Kiosk/Trolley Assistant: The popular and busy Kiosk at the Geraldton Hospital are looking for more enthusiastic Volunteers to join them! Assist with kiosk and trolley service to patients. Must be cheerful and able to handle small cash transactions. Join this great team of Auxiliary Volunteers who help raise money through the kiosk sales towards the purchase of vital equipment and amenities for the care and comfort of patients. Join us today!
Visibility – Support Group Geraldton: VisAbility have a long and proud history of providing services for people with disabilities, enabling them to do the things they love and live the life they want. VisAbility Geraldton are seeking a motivated caring volunteer to be part of the support group team at the QE11 centre. Becoming a part of the volunteer team, you can use your spare time to learn new skills, meet new people and know you are making a difference to people living with disabilities! Salvation Army Emergency Services – Volunteer Training and Information Roadshow: Do you see yourself as someone who likes to support others and can stay calm in a crisis? The Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) are recruiting a catering team of Volunteers to prepare meals and support local communities before, during and after a natural disaster! If you have a desire to help your community, can work well in a team during times of crisis then come along to hear more about your Volunteer role at the Salvation Army Emergency Services Roadshow on- Wednesday 15th September 2021 9.00am – 12.00pm, Salvation Army Corps Geraldton – 42 Ainsworth Street Geraldton. Juniper Hillcrest – Volunteer Kitchen Assistant: Do you love being in the kitchen? Do you also enjoy being part of a team? Juniper Hillcrest are currently seeking a kitchen assistant who will provide support to the centre chef. Duties of this role include food preparation, food service, safe use of kitchen utensils and appliances, maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, working within a team setting and other kitchen duties as required. Previous kitchen experience is not necessary; just some knowledge and understanding of safe food handling, good communication skills, able to work in a team setting. Volunteer must also be willing to have up to date current vaccinations.
