WA Country Health Service – Kiosk/Trolley Assistant: The popular and busy Kiosk at the Geraldton Hospital has re-opened post COVID and the team are looking for more enthusiastic Volunteers to join them! Assist with kiosk and trolley service to patients. Must be cheerful and able to handle small cash transactions. Join this great team of Auxillary Volunteers who help raise money through the kiosk sales towards the purchase of vital equipment and amenities for the care and comfort of patients. 3 or 4 hourly shifts to choose from.
WA Country Health Service – Meals on Wheels Volunteer: This role sees Volunteers deliver hot and cold meals directly to the homes of isolated and aged community members. This role requires the use of your own vehicle and it may also be something you’d like to do with a friend or family member. Deliveries are done by Volunteers each weekday from 11am for approx. 1- 1 ½ hrs. Collection of eskies and run sheets from the Geraldton Health Campus and then taken to your client’s home. A few minutes of your time to each client will be greatly appreciated and it may be the only contact that person has all day! You can go on the roster each week, fortnight or month – whatever time you can offer is very welcome!
Juniper Hillcrest – Front Door Monitor : Help visitors to navigate through the COVID-19 precautionary measures by greeting everyone that wishes to enter, checking their temperature, ensuring they have up-to-date flu vaccination, ensuring they adhere to sanitising prior to entering the building, wiping down/sanitising all surfaces that are touched. The Monday – Friday shifts are 9am -12pm & 1pm – 4pm (Volunteers are Supervised during week by Juniper staff) Saturday & Sundays from 9am – 1pm where Volunteers are by themselves.
Geraldton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group – Radio Monitor: Consider this exciting and rewarding role by joining this local, volunteer-run, emergency service team by monitoring and operating the Marine Radio for sea rescue purposes. Radio Operators keep ongoing computer logs of outgoing boats and operates radio to respond to situations. Volunteer members enjoy contributing to their community through their rewarding and satisfying work, whilst obtaining a high degree of training and qualifications in the maritime industry and safe boating practices generally. In critical situations, the duties performed by Volunteers can mean the difference between life and death. All Radio Operators are required to hold a Marine Radio Operator Certificate of Proficiency. Uniform is also supplied after a 3 month period of ongoing volunteering. All volunteers must become members prior to training.
Centacare Family Services – Back to School Project Distribution Volunteers: Centacare’s Back to School Project will be on again in 2021. Each year Centacare prepares and offers basic stationery packs to eligible families with children attending school from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are in needs of Volunteers to help distribute the packs from the Maitland St office. Distribution will begin on Friday 22 January 20201 until Friday 29 January 2021 or until sold out. Times are from 9.00am -1pm each day. If this interests you, we would love to hear from you! You do not have to do every day – just let us know when you are available.
