Current Volunteer Opportunities List
Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community.
Please note, due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns, not all agencies are back up and running, or recruiting new volunteers but we do still encourage people to inquire with us and we will do our best to assist.
Pollinators: Goodness Festival: Do you love community events? Are you interested in science? The Goodness Festival – Science, Sustainability and Innovation is happening between Saturday 15 August to Sunday 23 August 2020. Enthusiastic and engaging people wanted to help with a variety of interesting roles and we’d love to hear from you even if you can offer 1 hour of your time. Join the Goodness Festival Volunteering Team today!
Geraldton Christian Churches Carols by Candlelight – Carols by Candlelight Secretary: Do you have skills in minute taking, record keeping, time management and working with computers? Join the Carols by Candlelight Committee in the interesting and valuable role as Secretary and work together to ensure a successful annual event in December. Approx 2 hours per week of your time is all that’s required, plus a monthly meeting on a Monday evening. Express your interest in this role today!
Centacare Family Services – Library Bag Volunteer: Our annual Back-to-School project provides primary school aged children with a brand new library bag made and decorated by lovely community members like you! We are looking for some generous people to either sew calico together and/or decorate the sewn bags. This is a role that can be done at home in your own time between now and December. Centacare has pre-cut calico pieces but relies on kind donations to provide material to decorate the bags.
Marine Rescue Geraldton – Radio Monitor: Join the team of local volunteers who monitor and operate the Marine Radio for sea rescues. Full training and ongoing support provided. Radio Monitors keep ongoing computer logs of outgoing boats and operate the radio to respond to situations. This satisfying and rewarding volunteer role will see you work as a team and contribute to your community. All Radio Operators are required to hold a Marine Radio Operator Certificate of Proficiency which is undertaken in your training and initially paid for by the volunteer and reimbursed after a period of ongoing volunteering. Enquire to become a member today!
Greenough Museum – Museum Volunteer: Do you love meeting new people and learning about history? Greenough Museum is looking for Volunteers to welcome the many visitors travelling through! The Museum is open daily from 8.30am to 3.00pm and is located on Phillips Road, 19km south of Geraldton. The primary duties of volunteers are: reception duties and providing tourist information, cataloguing and maintaining a database, assisting with storage and careful handling of collection, museum shop sales, cleaning and maintaining the museum space. Plus, we provide complimentary tea or coffee (and maybe a vegie or two from the amazing gardens).
