Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:
City of Greater Geraldton – WoW Fest Event Volunteer: Are you interested in getting some hands-on experience putting on a truly epic event?! The City of Greater Geraldton are now seeking volunteers to help with various roles over the WoW Music Fest 2020 long weekend 11-12 April 2020. From setting up to gate management and everything fun in between, there are plenty of roles for volunteers to do.
Pre-Event: Poster distribution and handing out flyers. Collecting marketing collateral from Sponsors
Set-Up: Setting up marquees & equipment, event signage, assisting vendors, assisting event organisers, manual handling, room set up (laptop, chairs, tables and cloths)
During: Operating the Kinetic Sculpture, Gate Attendants, General Admission Attendants, Ticketing, licensed area roving volunteers (RSA required)
Post-Event: Packing down marquees and infrastructure, stacking chairs, rubbish collection of signage, assisting event organisers. Volunteering at a music festival can be a pretty rewarding experience. You get to see all the cool behind-the-scenes workings of the festival and meet some awesome people.
QEII Seniors & Community Centre – Switched on Seniors Volunteer: A new program is coming to the QEII Centre and they are looking to train a new group of Volunteers. You will already know how to use the iPad or are willing to learn and then teach senior community members how to effectively use an iPad to meet their needs. You don’t need to be a technology whizz to be able to help others learn how to use the iPad. The weekly sessions are conducted in a relaxed and social environment with the emphasis on fun, continual learning and sharing what we know. All aspects are covered from what to buy, how to connect to the internet to using apps, and staying connected with family and friends. Potential Volunteers will need to attend a 1 day training session on 10 March from 9.30am – 4.30pm.
Midwest Roadwise –Committee Member: Midwest residents, do you want to get involved in local road safety initiatives? Midwest Roadwise Committee members are needed in our local area! The Midwest Roadwise Committee are looking for members to join them in delivering road safety initiatives in the area. If you have an interest in road safety, being part of a great team and would like to find out how you can get involved, then contact us today!
Centacare Men’s Hub – Volunteer: Do you like to contribute to the community? Do you have a passion for men’s health and wellbeing? As a Centacare Men’s Hub volunteer, you will be part of the front facing team, who are the first point of contact for those visiting the centre. The role may include a variety of tasks such as meet and greet, answering enquires, responding to telephone calls, conversing with men, assist the centre’s Coordinator with organising workshops and events, and being that welcoming face to all. Training will be provided. If you’re a sociable person that loves a chat, has interest in men’s health, and would like to get involved in your local community, we encourage you to contact us today!
Mission to Seafarers – Meet and Greet Volunteer: Do you enjoy meeting people from all around the world? MTS are looking for enthusiastic Volunteers who have a welcoming disposition to assist seafarers from around the world with practical and social support. Volunteers would always work another person and run a small shop where you sell products, offer the hire of laptops, offer literature and you may change foreign currency (Training provided). You may also be needed to assist with other odd jobs that are required around the shop at different times.
Greenough Museum – Museum Volunteer: Do you love meeting new people and learning about history? Greenough Museum is looking for Volunteers to welcome visitors! The Museum is open daily from 8.30 to 3.30 and is located 19km south of Geraldton .The primary duties of volunteers are: reception duties and providing tourist information, cataloguing and maintaining a database, assisting with storage and careful handling of collection, museum shop sales, cleaning and maintaining the museum space. Plus, we provide complimentary tea or coffee (and maybe a vegie or two from the amazing gardens).
Juniper Hillcrest – Activities Assistant: Volunteer in a lovely environment that is home to our older community members, many of whom don’t have regular visitors. Volunteer Activities Assistants interact with the residents to help promote and encourage their independence and well-being, as part of the dynamic therapy and leisure program. Activities may include helping with craft, light exercise, cooking or gardening groups, driving residents to appointments, accompanying on community outings or simply having a coffee and a chat! Socialising with the residents helps brighten their day and yours! A minimum of a 12-month commitment is requested of all volunteers
