Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:
WA Country Health Service – Auxiliary (Kiosk/Trolley) Volunteer: Can you assist by volunteering your time 4 hours or more per month? This popular and busy hospital kiosk is looking for more enthusiastic Volunteers to provide a cheerful and efficient service to patients, staff and visitors. Small cash transactions required so need to be confident with money. Money received through the kiosk sales goes towards the purchase of vital equipment and amenities for the care and comfort of patients.
Australian Red Cross – Geraldton Soup Patrol: With a focus on individuals, groups and communities in vulnerable situations, volunteers deliver a free, nutritious evening meal to people who are homeless, socially disadvantaged or on very low incomes. The Team Member Volunteer is required to have excellent communication skills and an understanding and empathy for people from diverse backgrounds, always behaving in a completely impartial and non-judgmental manner. Volunteers always go out with at least one other team member and visit various locations.
Australian Red Cross – Retail Sales Volunteer: Volunteers are urgently needed Wednesday- Friday 12.30-4.30pm. Assist with customer service, receiving and sorting donated goods, window dressing, stock preparation, cleaning store, pricing and other duties as requested by store manager. Volunteering is a fun and sociable way to belong to your community. Become a Red Cross Shop volunteer and give back in a whole new way!
Mission to Seafarers – Ambassador: Mission to Seafarers are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who has a welcoming disposition to assist seafarers from around the world. You would work with another person and run a small shop where you may change foreign currency. You may also assist seafarers who are in need or distress and support them with practical and spiritual needs. Volunteers are required Monday to Friday 1pm- 6pm, or Monday to Sunday 6pm- 9pm. If you enjoy meeting new people from around the world then this is for you!
Foodbank Geraldton – Go Gero Van Volunteer: Foodbank Geraldton offers a mobile van filled with a variety of foodstuffs to different areas of town each day. This enables those who are not mobile but still in need of Foodbank’s services to access food. Accompany the current team member 2 days a week for 4-5 hrs a day. Must be physically capable of loading & unloading the van. The ideal volunteer is also confident & capable of dealing with the public (mainly seniors), have a fair aptitude for mental maths (dealing with weights & money) and be a safe & reliable driver.
Greenough Museum – Museum Volunteer: Do you love meeting new people and learning about history? Greenough Museum is looking for Volunteers to welcome visitors! The Museum is open daily from 8.30 to 3.30 and is located 19km south of Geraldton .The primary duties of volunteers are: reception duties and providing tourist information, cataloguing and maintaining a database, assisting with storage and careful handling of collection, museum shop sales, cleaning and maintaining the museum space. Plus, we provide complimentary tea or coffee (and maybe a vegie or two from the amazing gardens).
Foodbank Geraldton – All Rounder Volunteer: Have you got some time on your hands and see yourself as a bit of an all-rounder? Foodbank Geraldton is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer who is able to do a wide range of tasks to assist with the smooth running of the Warehouse. Tasks may vary from week to week which may include-Garden maintenance, sweep floors, operate floor cleaner, clean windows, pickup/ drop-offs around town, wash vehicles and lots of little odd jobs to keep premises neat & tidy! Be part of a great team of Volunteers and staff, who go out of their way to support those in our community!
