Current Volunteer Opportunities List
Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:
Greenough Museum – Museum Volunteer: Do you love meeting new people and learning about history? Greenough Museum is looking for Volunteers to welcome visitors! The Museum is open daily from 8.30 to 3.30 and is located 19km south of Geraldton on Phillips Road. The primary duties of volunteers are: reception duties and providing tourist information, cataloguing and maintaining a database, assisting with storage and careful handling of collection, museum shop sales, cleaning and maintaining the museum space. Plus, we provide complimentary tea or coffee (and maybe a vegie or two from the amazing gardens). They are holding a Volunteer Information Morning Tea on Tues 19th February from 9:30am – 10:30am & everyone is invited to come along to 11 Phillips Road, Greenough. No cost & bring along a friend!
Juniper Hillcrest – Activities Assistant: Volunteer in a lovely environment that is home to our older community members, many of whom don’t have regular visitors. Volunteer Activities Assistants interact with the residents to help promote and encourage their independence and well-being, as part of the dynamic therapy and leisure program. Activities may include helping with craft, light exercise, cooking or gardening groups, driving residents to appointments, accompanying on community outings or simply having a coffee and a chat! Socialising with the residents helps brighten their day and yours! A minimum of a 12 month commitment is requested of all volunteers.
Australian Red Cross – Retail Sales Volunteer: Volunteers are urgently needed Wednesday- Friday 12.30-4.30pm. Assist with customer service, receiving and sorting donated goods, window dressing, stock preparation, cleaning store, pricing and other duties as requested by store manager. Volunteering is a fun and sociable way to belong to your community. Become a Red Cross Shop volunteer and give back in a whole new way!
St Vincent de Paul Geraldton–Vinnies Shop Assistant: Come and join the friendly team at the Geraldton Vinnies shop! They are seeking friendly, helpful new team members who would like to give back to their community by helping sell clothes, sort donations, greet and serve customers and store and package food hampers. By volunteering you can be sure you’re making a difference to people in need. For many volunteers, this is a chance to give something back to the community and to use their skills and experience to make a difference in the lives of people who need assistance the most. Store opening hours are Mon- Fri 9am – 3.30pm.
WACHS – Meals on Wheels Volunteer: This role sees Volunteers deliver hot and cold meals directly to the homes of isolated and aged community members. This role requires the use of your own vehicle and it may also be something you’d like to do with a friend or family member. Deliveries are done by Volunteers each weekday from 11am for approx. 1- 1 ½ hrs. Collection of eskies and run sheets from the Geraldton Health Campus and then taken to your client’s home. A few minutes of your time to each client will be greatly appreciated and it may be the only contact that person has all day! You can go on the roster each week, fortnight or month – whatever time you can offer is very welcome!
