What We Do
Centacare Volunteer Service is a free volunteer resource and development centre. We are working to:
- Increase the awareness and understanding of volunteering in the community
- Increase participation of local volunteering
- Facilitate the positive placement of volunteers in appropriate agencies
- Assist agencies to make appropriate use of the services of volunteers
- Provide an option for unemployed people to volunteer through the Volunteer Management Programme by promoting this service in Job Service Networks and Centrelink.

The Community Volunteer Service is provided by Centacare Family Services and funded by the State Government through the Department of Communities. Centacare Volunteer Service is also funded by the Federal Government through the Department of Social Services. The Service was established in 1993 and currently has over 100 positions at over 80 different agencies. CVS is part of a State wide network of 26 other Volunteer Resource Centres, promoting the benefits and increasing the awareness and opportunities of volunteering throughout the community.
