In partnership with the City of Greater Geraldton and the Centacare Family Services counselling team, 3 personal and professional workshops were offered  to the community as well as a Film, Wine & Cheese Evening held at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery during National Volunteer Week 2017. Over 60 individuals enjoyed the workshops and the Film, Wine & Cheese Evening.

With the national campaign theme in mind of “Give Happy Live Happy”, workshops focused on Assertive Communication Skills, Managing Mental Health in the Workplace and Managing Personal and Professional Boundaries. The workshops were very well received with comments such as “Enjoyed every aspect of it”, “Great advice!”, “All of the content was good” and “I enjoyed how the facilitator delivered the information and gave practical examples”.

We also offered community groups and organisations who work with volunteers, the opportunity to receive 3 free tickets to our Wine, Cheese and Film Night held in the intimate setting of the Art Gallery in Geraldton. Due to the limited seating in the lovely mini-theatre upstairs, we could only offer 3 tickets to the first 12 organisations who responded.

The whole week and the Film evening was a success and we received positive comments such as “This has been great!”, “Thank you for the great food”. “This was brilliant, thank you!”, “Thanks for all that you do” and “Well done and thanks for inviting me”.

We are hoping to continue with a similar National Volunteer Week program in 2018.

Below are some photos taken during the week at the workshops, a staff meeting and at the Film evening.
