In the first few years of Uni, I volunteered for Young St Vincent De Paul where I was a youth leader at camps for under privileged children.
We would take about 20 kids out to places like Rottnest Island or Pemberton where we ran trust games, did cooking classes, and lots of sports. Many of the kids came from very poor broken families and had never had a holiday before. It was amazing to see the excitement on the kids faces. I had never thought of myself as privileged but the camps gave me an added appreciation for the life my mum and dad had given me.
