Current Volunteer Opportunities List

Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:

City of Greater Geraldton- Musician Mentors: Do you have a passion for music and love to share that passion with others? Interested in working with young people?  The freshly renovated BSharp studio located at PCYC is a place for all abilities to come and jam, meet other musicians or rehearse with their band. Individuals and bands are invited to attend, with the ultimate goal of participating in the Battle of the Bands held in October. Volunteer Mentors are there to support the development of individuals into bands and guide them through the preparations and rehearsals before the Battle goes down. WWCC is essential.

Share the Dignity – Shero: Do you have a passion to help women and girls in need? Volunteers that that have a willingness to communicate and be prepared to manage a collection point in Geraldton are in high demand! Share the Dignity provides FREE sanitary items to all those in need. You will be required to empty and care for the donation bins and distribute the donations to local assigned agencies. As there can be some driving around involved as a Shero/Hero, having a current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is required. Could you be the Shero/Hero in our town?

Midwest Charity Begins at Home – Charity Ball Event Volunteer: The 11th Annual Gala Dinner is being held on                Sat 27th October 2018, with the theme CIRCUS!  MCBAH requires the support of volunteers in setting up event and pack down of the event, selling raffle tickets, removing glasses from tables, helping with silent auctions and assisting the guests where needed. To be part of this annual extravaganza contact us today!

Pollinators – Be Connected Digital Mentor Volunteer: Be Connected is a new Australian Government program aimed at increasing the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians when they use the internet. Older Australians with low internet skills can often feel isolated from their community and family. Do you have the interest in teaching new skills to older members of our community? Digital Mentor Volunteers are needed fortnightly on Mondays from 10am – 12pm to work directly with learners as they develop new digital skills. As a Volunteer you can be part of a bigger movement to make a positive change happen for older people and communities who are digitally excluded. An on-going commitment is required of all Volunteers.

Centacare Family Services –  Home Visit Service Volunteer: Many people live lonely lives in our community. We have created a Home Visiting Service for people who are isolated in our community. We are looking for volunteers who can be matched with our clients who have differing and specific needs. We have clients ready to be matched with Volunteers. Days and times are flexible to suit your needs, please contact us for more information.

We would love to welcome new team members; all you need is a welcoming smile and willingness to help.

City of Greater Geraldton – Signature Events Volunteer:  The City Events and Youth Development teams hold signature events during the year and are hoping to engage more community members to be part of the events. Events like the WOW Festival, Christmas on the Terrace, Australia Day and others are all needing volunteer engagement and support. You may like to be a pre-event volunteer and be part of the organising and planning team or you might prefer to be there on the day and assist in the many tasks that are needed (first aid, information tents, litter pickers, setup crew, pack down etc). Whatever your preference and interest, there is a job for you!

Geraldton-Greenough Sunshine Festival – Festival Event Volunteer: This long-term, community festival is celebrating their 60th year and it’s your turn to be part of this incredible event! Like all successful events, community member engagement is necessary. The committee need all sorts of people at different times to assist with the many parts of this all community run community event! Please let us know if you want to help out on the day!!
