Current Volunteer Opportunities List


Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:


Spare Parts Puppet Theatre – Volunteer Performance Assistants: COMING SOON! Are you interested in theatre and the arts? Then consider volunteering for this world premier during their 4 day Geraldton project! Volunteer Performance Assistants assist audience members to navigate their way through the performance, talking about themes of the work and assisting with activities, particularly interested in volunteers who can knit.

The performance, Tom Vickers and the Extraordinary Adventure of his Missing Sock is a choose-your-own adventure performance that will infiltrate the Museum of Geraldton from May 10 – 13. Volunteers will need to attend a Site Induction from 4pm-6pm Wed 9 May as well as a full rehearsal from 1pm-3.30pm Thursday 10 May.

Performance shifts are:

4.30pm – 8.30pm Thurs 10 May

4.30pm – 8.30pm Fri 11 May

9.30am – 1pm and 1pm – 4.30pm Sat 12 May

9.30am – 1pm and 1pm – 4.30pm Sun 13 May

Volunteers can offer to do just the 1 shift or more if they like.

City of Greater Geraldton – Late Night Basketball Volunteers: Wanted! Positive and engaging adult role models to enjoy this new and exciting local program! This new U-Turn Project program commences Friday 11 May for 7 weeks from 7pm – Midnight, concluding Friday 22 June. Various roles assisting and supporting young people are available to Geraldton residents who have a genuine interest in the well-being of our local young people from 13-18 yrs. This is a safe, lock-in event which offers dinner, workshops and games of basketball to our local young with the intention of keeping them engaged and away from any antisocial behaviour. Volunteers do not have to commit to the whole 7 weeks – just let them know your availability and they will do all they can to include you. Volunteers must be 18+ and must either hold a current Working with Children Card or be willing to obtain one. The Committee are able to assist any potential volunteer with applying for a WWCC.


Chapman Valley Historical Society – Museum Volunteers: It’s been 22 years since the CVHS Museum opened the shed doors to the public!! They would be delighted to have new Volunteers join them! The position requires the volunteer to open the museum and meet and greet customers. You will also be required to assist in the cleaning and maintaining of the displays to ensure presentation is appealing to the public and general duties as instructed by the museum manager.

The CVHS invites you to join them for a “Welcome to New Volunteers” Morning Tea on Wednesday 9th May at 10am.

CVHS is situated at 100 East Terrace Nanson. Come along and see this this interesting part of History!


The Salvation Army – Thrift Shop Volunteers: The Salvos have moved into bigger and better premises now located on Anzac Terrace! Responsible, well presented and energetic volunteers are needed in this busy Thrift Shop. Volunteering with the Salvos is a rewarding experience, which allows you to give something back to the community. Your valued role as a Thrift Shop Assistant will include: Delivery of extraordinary customer service, collection, sorting and pricing of donations, sale of goods, visual merchandising and store presentation. General cleaning also required ensuring the store is always clean, tidy and safe for customers.


WA Country Health ServiceMeals on Wheels Volunteers: This role sees Volunteers deliver hot and cold meals directly to the homes of isolated and aged community members. As a volunteer, you will be given a list of your clients that corresponds with your esky/delivery run. This role requires the use of your own vehicle and it may also be something you’d like to do with a friend or family member. Deliveries are done by Volunteers each weekday from 11am for approx. 1- 1 ½ hrs. A minimum of 1 shift per week or fortnight would be appreciated.

We will be winding our way around Geraldton on Monday 21st and Friday 25th May to various Volunteer-Involving Organisations to find out how Volunteers can assist them.
