Current Volunteer Opportunities List

Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities available in your community:

Salvation Army Geraldton – Gift Wrapping Volunteer: Salvation Army Geraldton are looking for volunteer gift wrappers who want to spread some holiday cheer, meet new people and make a difference! Christmas gift wrappers will be collecting gold coin donations in exchange for assisting shoppers with the big task of wrapping their gifts and ALL money raised will go directly to support the programs and services provided by the Salvation Army to our community.
Volunteer gift wrappers will be stationed at Stirlings & Northgate Shopping Centres throughout December.
2 hourly shifts from either 10am – 12pm or 12pm – 2pm are available from 11 December to 23 December.
You don’t need experience to be a gift wrapper and everything will be provided for you – we just need you and your smile!

WACHS – Community Care Day Centre Volunteer: This important and valued role assists hospital employees support and engage with their community based clients who are frail, aged and younger people with disabilities. The Day Centre within the Geraldton Health Campus is a vibrant and engaging centre and requires vibrant and engaging volunteers to actively participate in activities and programs. Suitable volunteers will be able to work as part of a team and be able to communicate well with older people and people with disabilities. This role is flexible and is available weekdays from 10am – 2pm or any time you can offer!

WACHS – Meals on Wheels Volunteer: This role sees Volunteers deliver hot and cold meals directly to the homes of isolated and aged community members. This role requires the use of your own vehicle and it may also be something you’d like to do with a friend or family member. Deliveries are done by Volunteers each weekday from 11am for approx. 1- 1 ½ hrs. Collection of eskies and run sheets from the Geraldton Health Campus and then taken to your clients home. A few minutes of your time to each client will be greatly appreciated and it may be the only contact that person has all day! You can go on the roster each week, fortnight or month – whatever time you can offer is very welcome!
Greenough Museum – The Curator of the Greenough Museum (formerly the Greenough Pioneer Museum) would love to see some volunteers assist out there. The museum is open daily from 9.00am to 3.30pm and is located 19km south of Geraldton on Phillips Road. It’s a great way of meeting people and learning more about our history. Plus we provide complimentary tea or coffee (and maybe a vegie or two from the garden). If interested, please contact Gary by phone 9926 1890 or email greenough@westnet.com.au

The Bethanie Group – Social Centre Volunteer: Are you kind, compassionate and have an interest in caring for the aged in our community? As a Social Centre Volunteer, you support the Bethanie Social Centre staff to transport members on the Social Centre Bus to & from the Social Centre on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on exciting activities and outings around the local community. If you are able to offer your time between 8.30am -4.00pm (or part-thereof) to assist with the transportation of members and Social Activities such as memory games, cards, arts & crafts, word & number games, gardening, singing, cooking, playing musical instruments & chatting with members or community outings, Bethanie would love to hear from you!

Centacare Family Services – With Christmas fast approaching, our thoughts turn to those in our community facing hardship, struggle or challenges. We invite you to support our community by either donating items and/or volunteering your time in some of our Christmas initiatives to bring a little joy and relief experiencing financial difficulties or are far from loved ones this year.
Our Community Christmas Day Lunch is provided by the generosity of sponsors and volunteers who give of their time on Christmas Day to celebrate Christmas with people in need of some hope and good cheer.
Food & Gifts for families experiencing hardship due to change of circumstances and the increased cost of living are welcomed items donated to families, especially those with small children who may not otherwise enjoy the excitement of a gift from Santa.
